KARACHI, May 09, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Naib Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Prof Ghafoor Ahmed has questioned that how the present ruling coalition would unearth the murderers involved in May 12 mayhem, when they were sharing power with a particular urban-based political party in Sindh. Addressing an All Parties Conference organized by his party at the Idara Noor-e-Heq here on Thursday, he said that more people were killed by terrorists during the rule of Musharraf than the combined rule of three previous martial law regimes. He congratulated the people of Pakistan for rejecting politicians backed by Musharraf, though the previous regime used all state machinery for getting them elected. He appreciated the PPP, PML-N and ANP on their national conciliation policy. He said that the people of Pakistan were not happy with the negligible steps taken by the present rulers for solving the real issues faced by the nation and country. He criticized the rise in prices of petroleum products, cooking oil, wheat flour and other daily-use commodities, besides increasing fares of local buses, railway and PIA fares. He asked the government to tell the people who much it was earning from the duties and taxes on petroleum products JI Naib Amir said that the committee formed for rulers for the restoration of judiciary was working above it mandate. He said it was formed for only drafting the resolution, but it was working on legal and constitutional aspects. He charged that due to his policies regarding deceiving the nation, now the PPP leadership had become a part of presidency. He said now they should talk to PML-Q and other allies of Musharraf, as they had done it in Sindh to share power with the MQM. He predicted these policies could result in collapse of the coalition government. He advised Asif Ali Zardari to face the judiciary issue bravely, otherwise people of Pakistan would reject him. He said till Musharraf were in the presidency it would continue to be the center of conspiracies. The JI leader said that people were committing suicides and self-immolation due to poverty, price hike and joblessness. He said the masses wanted immediate restoration of judiciary and reinstatement of judges. He warned if the judges were not restored on May 12, the country might go to anarchy. Acting President PML-N Sindh Saleem Zia said that all people of Pakistan had hold the MQM responsible for the May 12 mayhem, adding now only a judicial inquiry and due punishment to those responsible were left. He said that the fascist policies of MQM were unearthed when their leader had ordered his followers in a public rally that they should sell their TV and VCR sets and buy arms Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Karachi President Siddiqui Rathore said that these types of incidents would be repeated again and again till those responsible of May 12 mayhem were convicted. Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mehanti charged that MQM was involved in May 12, mayhem, April 09 arson of Tahir Plaza, killing of JI leader Aslam Mujahid, Maulana Shamezai, Abdullah Murad and other political leaders. He regretted the killers in past had been sheltered by the corridors of power and today too they were sheltered behind the corridors of power. Amin Khattak of Awami National Party (ANP), Yusuf Masti Khan of NWP, Abdul Aleem of Pukhtoonkhwa Milli Party, Khan Muhammad Baloch of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Nasir Mansoor of Labour Party, Asadullah of PTI, Ahad Magsi of Awami Tehreek, Arshad Naqvi of PPP, Bisharat Mirza of PDP and other spoke. They adopted a resolution and demanded of the government to convict the responsible of May 12, 2004, May 12 2008 and April 8 mayhems, besides those involved in April 9 tragedy. They also demanded of government to expel MQM from the Sindh government. |
