Bogota, Nov 7, 2009 (EFE via COMTEX) -- At least seven people were killed in a clash between two families in the southwestern Colombian province of Nariño, apparently the result of a dispute over the sale of cattle, local authorities said Saturday. Nariño Gov. Antonio Navarro told Caracol Radio that his administration has received reports of "seven dead bodies" in the town of Barbacoas, where the clash between an Afro-Colombian family and an Awa Indian family took place earlier this week. A commission made up of investigators from the federal Attorney General's Office and the Nariño government is heading to the area to collect the bodies and identify the victims, Navarro said. According to the initial probe, the dispute apparently erupted over the sale of cattle several months ago, although no more details have yet emerged from that remote part of the country near the border with Ecuador.
