Prime Minister pledged to ensure law, order, vital for sustainable economic growth

Islamabad, May 08, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani pledged to ensure law and order as peace is vital for sustainable economic growth. Addressing participants of 88th National Management Course of National School of Public policy on Thursday, he said government is pursuing a three pronged strategy to curb menace of extremism, terrorism making the country safe for investment and socio-economic uplift.

Gilani said government has decided to import wheat on emergency basis to ensure its availability on cheaper rates to people. He said all stakeholders would be invited to find ways to overcome energy crisis in shortest possible time. Energy conservation policy would also be evolved including early closure of shops, end of illumination in parties to save energy.

We believe in supremacy of parliament and restoration of 1973 constitution and reinstatement of deposed judges. The coalition government will not repeat the mistakes of past and move forward to bring prosperity and development. We stand for maximum provincial autonomy to give more powers to provinces.

He said government plans to prepare 10 economic development programme to bring about economic stability. The backward areas would be given more attention to bring them at par with developed parts.
