DRY WHOLE MILK - NATIONAL

Dry whole milk prices are unchanged to lower on a mixed market. Interest in dry
whole milk is growing, with some sales moving into bakery type products for
upcoming holidays. Although many domestic end users have traditionally
preferred Oceania product, some are making the switch to domestic product to
fill needs this year. Inventories are steady to building incrementally, as some
plants are producing above contract needs in order to participate more readily
in the spot market. Dry whole milk production during March 2008 totaled 5.4
million pounds, 116.3% higher than unadjusted February 2008 production and
127.2% higher than production of one year ago. Month ending stocks are not
reported for this product.
