Sugar prices up on better offtake

New Delhi, May 05, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Wholesale prices of sugar today improved by Rs 10 per quintal here following fresh buying by bulks consumers like ice cream and soft drink manufactures.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices traded higher at Rs 1,630-1,675 and Rs 1,610-1,650 from Rs 1,625-1,675 and Rs 1,600-1,650 a quintal respectively.

Marketmen said increased buying support from bulk consumers and local parties against restricted supply pushed up sugar prices.

Mill delivery sugar prices for medium and second grade qualities also moved up from Rs 1,375-1,550 and Rs 1,360-1,540 to to Rs 1,380-1,560 and Rs 1,370-1,550 a quintal respectively.

Following are today's quotations per quintal: Sugar ready M-30 1630-1675 and S-30 1610-1650.

Mill delivery M-30 1380-1560 and S-30 1370-1550.

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Modi Nagar 1525,Bagpat 1485, Daurala 1520, Chandpur 1360, Titabi 1530, Mawana 1520, Simbhawali 1525 Khatauli 1510, Badaiun 1365, Sattha 1360, Ruderavilash 1375, Bijnor 1450, Amroha 1460 and Samali Rs 1450.
