LOUISIANA WEEKLY CATTLE SUMMARY OF 10 ACUTIONS FOR WEEK ENDING 05/09/2008

Cattle Receipts:  4755    Week Ago:  3385    Year Ago:  5775

Feeders under 600 lbs		63 percent    53 percent    61 percent
Feeders over 600 lbs		 8 percent     9 percent     6 percent
Slaughter cows			19 percent    24 percent    19 percent
Replacement cows and Pairs	10 percent    14 percent    14 percent

The feeder supply included 61 percent steers/bulls and 39 percent heifers.

   Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 3.00 higher.  
Not enough slaughter bulls on offer for a market test.  Feeder steers sold 
steady to 3.00 higher, with prices 1.00-2.00 lower in Delhi.  Feeder heifers 
sold steady to 4.00 higher.  Increased cattle runs this week, with both 
Coushatta and Delhi nearly doubling their receipts over last week.

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Large 1  5-7 years old, 1010-1340 lbs with 210-370 lb 
calves, 900.00-1385.00 per pair.  Medium 1  5-6 years old, 900-970 lbs with 
175-280 lb calves, 870.00-950.00 per pair.  Medium and Large 1-2  2-4 
years old, 890-1225 lbs with 175-400 lb calves, 850.00-1050.00 per pair; bred 
back with 275-450 lb calves, 1175.00-1230.00; 5-7 years old with 175-275 lb 
calves, 850.00-1050.00.

   Replacements:  Large 1  5-7 years old, 1020-1290 lbs, 5-7 months bred, 
680.00-930.00 per head.  Medium 1  5-7 years old, 840-950 lbs, 3-7 months 
bred, 700.00-800.00 per head.  Medium and Large 1-7  5-7 years old, 2-7 
months bred, 930-1210 lbs, 690.00-890.00 per head.
