Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Summary
Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 05/09/2008
Receipts: 8793 Last Week: 3089 Year Ago: 11,749
Compared with last week: Steers and heifers steady to 1.00 higher. Country
trade did not advance as much as auction trade. Storms brought western Kansas
good moisture amounts this week, 1-3 inches in most parts. Isolated areas
received storm damage from high winds and hail with the eastern and southeastern
portions of the state receiving heavy rains along with some flooding. Sales
confirmed on 6333 steers, 1980 heifers and 480 calves for a total of 8793 head,
compared with 3089 last week and 11,749 a year ago. Volume includes 95 percent
over 600 lbs, 5 percent under 600 lbs and no contracts. Feeder supply consisted
of 78 percent steers and 22 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are
FOB weighing point with 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and 5-10 cent slide on
calves and 3-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights.

lbs 103.00-106.50; 850-900 lbs 99.50-104.00; 909 lbs 97.50. Medium and Large 1-
