WEEKLY SLAUGHTER CATTLE SUMMARY:
Weekly Summary of Wisconsin livestock auctions for the week ending Friday,
May 9, 2008. Five auctions reported.
Receipts: cattle 2350 calves 600
Compared to late last week, slaughter cows were 2.00-4.00 higher.
Demand very good. Supply 35 percent slaughter cows.

Premium White 65-75 percent over 1400 lbs. 61.00-65.00
Breakers 75-80 percent over 1250 lbs. 57.00-62.00
Boners 80-85 percent over 1100 lbs. 52.00-57.00
Lean 85-90 percent over 1000 lbs. 48.00-53.00
Low Dressing Lean 85-90 percent over 1000 lbs. 43.00-48.00

Replacement Holstein Bull calves generally steady. Demand moderate to good.
100-120 lbs 80.00-115.00 to 130.00 early in the week;
85-100 lbs 70.00-110.00 to 125.00 early in the week;
120-140 lbs 70.00-100.00 to 120.00 early in the week
Replacement Holstein heifer calves steady. Demand good.
90-120 lbs 450.00-600.00
Near 85 percent were sold to replacement accounts.

Prices per head, unless otherwise stated.
Receipts: 300 head, Last sale 325 head, Last year 250 head
Demand: moderate, with moderate buyer attendance.
Quality was moderate at best.
Warmer temperatures limited the number of buyers and the supply of quality replacement
cattle. Prices were weak to 100.00 lower compared to the last reported sale. There were
few quality open heifers available for sale. The sale had numerous high CMT count cows
selling from 700.00-1000.00 per head.
Supply: 20% Fresh Milking Cows, 30% Bred Cows, 30% Bred Heifers,
20% Open Heifers
Fresh Milking Cows: 3-6 years old.

Common - 1050.00-1500.00
