Bangkok, May 11, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- The Council of Rice Trade Cooperation (CRTC) will hold a meeting in two or three months, Thailand?s Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama said. The CRTC members including Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, China and India are expected to discuss on rice production and trade to meet the global demand as concerns regarding the world food crisis have intensified, Minister Noppadon Pattama was quoted by the Bangkok Post as saying on May 10. The rice council would not operate as "OPEC-style", Minister Noppadon said, adding that CRTC members would exchange information on rice production, each country's efficiency in rice production and assistance which could be given to rice producing nations. The CRTC held its first meeting on October 9, 2002. |
