Expo on Haj operations begins in Madinah

MADINAH, Nov 07, 2009 (Arab News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Haj Committee in Madinah has launched a 45-day Haj Operation Partnership Management Exhibition (Bonyan) to provide pilgrims with necessary information about the Kingdom's commitment to improving facilities for pilgrims. The exhibition, which started over the weekend, is being held at the central area opposite the western side of the Prophet's Mosque and will continue until Dec. 17. The exhibition offers educational and awareness material about Haj services to visitors to the Prophet's Mosque. Publications, leaflets and CDs of the participating official and private agencies are also being distributed at the exhibition free of charge.

The exhibition serves as a link between pilgrims and the sectors that are working together in assisting pilgrims and facilitating their movements during the annual pilgrimage. The Knowledge Economic City Development Co. Ltd. (KEC) is also supporting the Kingdom's efforts to make this year's Haj a success.

The KEC, the gold sponsor of the exhibition, highlights its role in bridging and managing the efforts of different sectors to foster a successful and smooth Haj.

"We don't hesitate to support the activities and programs that reflect the bright picture of the Kingdom," said Taher Bawazir, KEC's CEO.

"The KEC considers its participation as a sublime responsibility to foster interaction and achieve cooperation among Muslims from different parts of the world. Besides, our sponsorship comes within our support for the building of knowledge and to convey the message of our religion to every Muslim in all corners of the globe," he added.

The KEC is located approximately 5 km to the east of the Prophet's Mosque along the King Abdulaziz Road and 7 km from Madinah airport. It is one of four economic cities that have been launched out of the Kingdom's planned six economic cities.

The KEC has been designed to be a master-planned community with a smart environment over a land size of about five million square meters.

The development includes residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, knowledge-based industries and health care.
